Is Ardem Crossplay?
Last verified 20 August 2026 against the official Steam store page and playardem.com.
Ardem is cross-platform between Windows and SteamOS/Linux — both builds are the same Steam product and play on the same servers. Console crossplay does not exist, because there is no PS5, Xbox or Switch version of Ardem to cross-play with. Techtive Games has not announced any cross-platform programme beyond PC.
Crossplay questions about Ardem have an unusual shape, because crossplay needs two platforms and Ardem currently has one ecosystem. Here is the accurate answer rather than a simple yes or no.
Crossplay status
| Combination | Status |
|---|---|
| Windows ↔ SteamOS / Linux | Yes — same Steam release, same servers |
| Windows ↔ Steam Deck | Yes — Deck runs the Linux build |
| PC ↔ PS5 | No PS5 version exists |
| PC ↔ Xbox | No Xbox version exists |
| PC ↔ Nintendo Switch | No Switch version exists |
| Steam ↔ Epic / other stores | Steam is the only storefront |
| Cross-progression | Not applicable — progress is per server |
PC crossplay works today
Ardem ships both a Windows and a native SteamOS + Linux build, and they are the same Steam product rather than two separate releases. That means a Linux player and a Windows player join the same server list, connect to the same worlds and play together without any special configuration. Steam Deck users are covered by the same arrangement, since the Deck runs SteamOS.
For a game with player-hosted servers, that unified PC ecosystem is more useful than it sounds — a community server does not need to worry about which desktop OS its members run.
Console crossplay cannot exist yet
Not because Techtive Games has ruled it out, but because there is nothing on the other side. Ardem has no confirmed PS5, PS4, Xbox or Switch version. The studio's stated position in the official Steam FAQ is that PC comes first and a console release depends on the success and size of the player base.
So any page or video promising Ardem PS5 crossplay is describing something that does not exist in any form. See Ardem on PS5 and Ardem on Xbox.
If a console version ever arrives
No console version is confirmed, so nothing below is a plan Techtive Games has stated.
Ardem's architecture makes console crossplay harder than average even in that scenario. The game supports private and dedicated servers run by communities, and mods through CurseForge and Steam Workshop. Console platforms generally restrict both, which means a console build would likely be limited to official or curated servers — and mixing those with modded PC servers is a policy problem before it is a technical one.
What about cross-progression?
Largely a non-question in Ardem's design. Your character and everything you build belong to the server you play on, in a world that persists 24/7 and keeps evolving while you are offline. There is no account-wide profile to carry between platforms, so the usual cross-progression framing does not map onto how Ardem stores state.
Playing with friends today
Everyone needs a PC that meets the minimum specification — an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT with 16 GB of RAM — and a Steam account. Beyond that, co-op is straightforward: the public playtest on 15 October 2026 is free, open to everyone, and the official page explicitly invites players to bring their friends. Detail: is Ardem multiplayer.
The short version
If your question is “can my friend and I play Ardem together”, the answer depends on one thing only: whether you both have a PC that meets the minimum specification. Windows, SteamOS and Linux players are all on the same Steam release and the same servers, so there is no platform barrier between any two people who can run the game.
If your question is “can I play with a friend on console”, the answer is no, and it will stay no for as long as there is no console version of Ardem to connect to.
Key takeaways
- Windows and SteamOS/Linux players already share servers — same Steam release.
- Steam Deck is covered by the same Linux build.
- Console crossplay does not exist, because no console version of Ardem exists.
- Steam is the only storefront, so there is no cross-store play either.
- Cross-progression does not apply: progress belongs to the server you play on.
Frequently asked questions
Can PC and Linux players play Ardem together?
Yes. They are the same Steam release and connect to the same servers.
Will Ardem have PS5 and PC crossplay?
Not possible today. A PS5 version has not been confirmed, so there is nothing to connect.
Does Ardem have cross-progression?
Progress is stored per server rather than per platform, so the question mostly does not apply — your character belongs to the server you play on.
Can Steam Deck players join the same Ardem server as Windows players?
Yes. Steam Deck runs SteamOS, and Ardem's SteamOS/Linux build is the same Steam product as the Windows one, so both connect to the same servers.
Will Ardem support cross-platform friends lists?
Not applicable today — Ardem exists only on Steam, so Steam friends already cover every platform the game runs on.
