How to Join the Ardem Playtest

Last verified 20 August 2026 against the official Steam store page and playardem.com.

Quick answer

To join the Ardem playtest, open the Ardem Steam store page and press Request Access in the playtest panel. That single click puts you in the applicant pool for the closed playtest on 31 August 2026. For the public playtest on 15 October 2026 you do not need to be invited at all — Techtive Games says there are no waves, no waitlist and no invite needed.

Ardem playtest access runs entirely through Steam's built-in playtest system. There is no separate signup site, no application form and no key. What follows is the complete process, plus the differences between the two scheduled tests.

How to join the Ardem playtest, step by step

  1. Open the Ardem Steam store page while signed in to the Steam account you actually intend to play on. Ardem is Steam App ID 2179480, published by Techtive Games.
  2. Find the playtest panel underneath the trailer, on the right-hand side of the store page. It is a separate box from the wishlist button.
  3. Press Request Access. That single click adds you to the applicant pool. There is nothing to fill in and no confirmation email to wait for.
  4. Add Ardem to your wishlist. Wishlisting does not grant access, but it is how Steam notifies you the moment a playtest build goes live or the store page changes.
  5. Watch your Steam library. When access is granted, a separate Ardem Playtest entry appears in your library as its own installable item. Invites also surface as a Steam notification.
  6. For the public playtest, just install on the day. From 15 October 2026 no selection is involved — the playtest entry becomes installable for everyone.

The two tests are not the same

If you are not selected on 31 August, you are not shut out of anything permanent. The 15 October public playtest requires no acceptance at all, and it is the larger build with the whole world open at once. Detail: Protocol: The Outbreak.

Get your PC ready first

Requesting access takes seconds; being able to actually play does not. Ardem lists a 50 GB storage requirement, a minimum of an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT with 16 GB of RAM, DirectX 12, and a permanent internet connection even for solo play. Check your machine against the full Ardem system requirements before the day, and clear enough disk space so Steam is not staging a 50 GB download while you wait.

Linux and Steam Deck users have a native SteamOS build available, though the Deck is below the published minimum GPU — see Ardem on Steam Deck.

Things that are not real

Ardem has never been released, which makes it a soft target for fakes. To be direct about it:

  • There is no Ardem playtest key. Steam playtests use account grants, not keys. Anyone selling one is selling nothing.
  • There is no Ardem demo. The Steam page offers a playtest request button, not a demo. See is there an Ardem demo.
  • There is no Ardem download outside Steam. Any Ardem APK, crack, torrent or “free full version” is malware, because the real game has never shipped.
  • You cannot pre-order Ardem. Wishlisting is the only thing you can do today. See Ardem price.

Once you are in

Expect an unfinished build, because that is the point of a playtest. Techtive Games lists base building, farming, hunger and thirst, weather, electricity, vehicles and crafting as already implemented, so all the core systems should be present. Treat progress as temporary — playtest saves are wiped between phases and no carry-over into Early Access has been promised.

New to the genre? Read the Ardem beginner's guide before you spawn in, and check whether other players can kill you on the server you pick.

Is there an Ardem playtest sign-up page?

Not a separate one. The Ardem playtest sign-up is the Request Access button on the Steam store page — there is no external form, no email list to join and no third-party registration site. If you land on a page asking for an email address, a payment or account details to “register for the Ardem beta”, it is not connected to Techtive Games.

The official site at playardem.com also surfaces the playtest and asks you to sign in to apply, but that flow leads back to the same Steam grant. One click in either place is the entire sign-up.

Key takeaways

  • Press Request Access on the Ardem Steam store page — that is the entire application.
  • Wishlisting does not grant access, but it is how Steam notifies you when a build unlocks.
  • Closed access is granted in waves; the 15 October public test needs no invite at all.
  • There is no Ardem playtest key. Steam playtests are granted to accounts, not sold.
  • Check the 50 GB storage requirement and the RTX 2060 minimum before the day.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an Ardem playtest key?

No. Ardem playtest access is granted through Steam's built-in playtest system, not through keys. Anyone selling an Ardem playtest key is not selling anything real.

How long does it take to get accepted?

Techtive Games grants closed access in waves, so there is no fixed wait. If you are not picked for the 31 August closed test, the 15 October public test needs no acceptance at all.

Do I need to own Ardem to join the playtest?

No, and you cannot — Ardem has not been released. The playtest is free and separate from any future purchase.

Can I stream or make videos of the Ardem playtest?

Techtive Games actively runs a content creator programme and posts playtest footage itself, so coverage is welcome. Check the Steam playtest terms before monetising.

Where exactly is the Request Access button?

On the Ardem Steam store page, in the playtest panel underneath the trailer on the right-hand side. It is a separate box from the wishlist button, and pressing it is the entire application process — there is no form and no confirmation email.

Can I join the Ardem playtest on Steam Deck?

It should install, because Ardem ships a native SteamOS and Linux build. Whether it runs well is a different question: the Deck sits below the published minimum GPU of an RTX 2060. The October public playtest is a free way to find out on your own hardware.
